From Rev. Lamb:
  •   8:30 am We will worship in White Chapel and our worship will center on our third Chrismon for the season.
  •   9:45 am At Common Thread, we will celebrate a festival of Advent Lessons & Carols, with many voices sharing the lessons and traditional and contemporary carols for the entire congregation. Several of our youth instrumentalists will provide undertones for our readings. This service will be a beautiful way for us to continue our Advent preparations!
  •   11:00 am Our Sanctuary Choir and guest musicians will share a stunning work entitled Rhapsody in Bluegrass. This beautiful piece of music uses Appalachian tones to share the message of Christ, the Light of the World. I promise you that the music will evoke great joy in your heart as you move through Advent!
  •   On Sunday evening, December 16, our youth will meet at 4:30 in Carson Hall to leave for their progressive dinner. We are so glad that the hosting families were available again this week!
Monday, December 17: UMW Christmas Banquet, 6:30 pm in Carson Hall
Wednesday evening, December 19 We will hold our first Blue Christmas worship service. Knowing that the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, can be difficult for those who grieve, hurt or experience seasonal stress, and recognizing that we are approaching the longest night of the year, the darkest period of the year, we offer this time of hope and encouragement. Using scripture, music, candles, and gentle love, we will encourage each other. This time of worship begins at 5:30 in White Chapel and will last 30-40 minutes. All are invited.

Discipleship Plans for 2018-2019

Growing the Leader Inside All of Us: A church-wide invitation to grow in our discipleship and leadership in connecting with one another (regardless of age, and regardless of current leadership position or lack thereof). We will read four books over the nine-month period between September and May, and we will gather four times to discuss one book each time, discussing the current book assignment, along with its application to the church, to our church, and its connection to the other selections we are reading. Kim Lamb will lead the discussions. Please register for the series in the Lobby and place the four scheduled discussions on your calendars!

  • Selections and dates:
    • October 18, 6:00-8:00 pm A New Day in the City Sokol/Owens (Books cost $13 and will be ordered by the church office based on registration, to be available September 1)
    • January 17, 6:00-8:00 pm Tattoos on the Heart Boyle (19 copies available from the Wake County Libraries)
    • March 28, 6:00-8:00 pm When Spiritual But Not Religious Is Not Enough Daniel (6 copies available from the Wake County Libraries)
    • May 30, 6:00-8:00 pm Selection to be based on previous conversations

We will provide nursery care for those parents who both would like to participate in the discussion. We hope that our discussion will be robust, and our participants will represent a broad section of the church!
