Adult Opportunities

United Methodist Women (UMW)-  UMW is an organization of women whose purpose is to know God, to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  St. James United Methodist Women is open to any woman who indicates a desire to belong and participate in the global mission of the church. Small groups or “Circles” of women meet monthly for fellowship, study and mission.  Other special events include Retreats and Conferences open to all women of all ages and  Mission Studies and Projects, Our Women participate in Meals on Wheels as one of our mission projects.  For more information, please contact the church office at 876-5796 for the name and telephone number of the current UMW President.

The United Methodist Men (UMM)- The purpose of the UMM is to enjoy Christian fellowship and friends, deepen our Christian understanding, strengthen and enhance the role of men in the church, challenge and motivate men in mission and service to Jesus Christ. Any man who attends St. James UMC is welcome to participate in the United Methodist Men’s program.  UMM  meetings are organized around a dinner meeting held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00. Following a hearty meal, a program related to spiritual growth, Christian discipleship or missional opportunity is offered.

The United Methodist Men at St. James cook and sell peanuts with proceeds from sales supporting numerous local missions and needs of the church. The United Methodist Men also take an active role in the church wide clean-up days as well as in local hands-on mission projects.
